Getting your Charter Rights on Indeed, Reed & Totaljobs

At Midnight 30 we're about improving the lot of job seekers and candidates to improve the relationship with in-house recruiters and employers. The charter enshrines these rights but the fight is only just beginning.

While most job boards don't reveal, in their ads, who you'd be working for, there is a way to filter out the nameless ads to reveal just those that do. Here we look at three boards: Indeed, Reed and Totaljobs.

Indeed

Follow these steps to find the job ads that name the employer:

 Indeed's home page

Indeed's home page

Go to indeed.co.uk and tap `Advanced Job Search`.

 Indeed's Advanced Job Search

Indeed's Advanced Job Search

Indeed's `Advanced Job Search` page offers many options but scan down to `Show jobs from` and pick `Employer web sites only`. This will filter out nameless ads to reveal only those where the employer is clearly identified.

You must do all searches using this page as Indeed will put nameless ads back in if you use another of the site's search boxes.

Reed

Follow these steps to find the job ads that name the employer:

 Reed's home page

Reed's home page

Go to reed.co.uk and perform a search.

Reed's results bar offers many filters. Scroll down to the `Posted by` group and tap `Employers`. This will filter out nameless ads to reveal only those where the employer is clearly identified.

You can fire off more searches using this page but, if you go back to the home page, then Reed will add nameless ads again, so be careful you're not caught out.

Totaljobs

Follow these steps to find the job ads that name the employer:

 Totaljobs' home page

Totaljobs' home page

Go to totaljobs.com and tap `More options`.

Tap `Employer` in the `Recruiter Type` group. This will filter out nameless ads in your searches. You're not finished yet though; do another search and nameless ads will be included. To kick them out again, tap `Direct Employers` in the `Recruiters` group.
